To get everything up and running with your custom domain on Cloudflare, follow the step-by-step guide below. If your DNS provider is not Cloudflare, the steps will be similar, but please refer to the specific guide for your DNS provider here.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Log into Cloudflare

    1. Access the Cloudflare dashboard by logging in. Select your account and then choose the domain you wish to manage.

  2. Navigate to DNS Management

    1. In the Cloudflare dashboard, go to DNS and then click on Records.

  3. Remove Existing A Records (if any)

    1. Before adding new DNS records, ensure no existing A records exist for the domain, or these will clash with the DNS records necessary for the custom domain to work.

  4. Add New DNS Records

    1. Click on Add record.

    2. Fill in the fields

    3. Proxy status: Click the cloud icon to turn it grey and set it to DNS only. This ensures that the traffic is not proxied through Cloudflare, which is necessary for the correct operation of your custom domain with our service.

    4. Ensure all details are correct, then click Save to add the DNS record.

Finalizing Setup

DNS changes might take some time to propagate, usually a few minutes, but sometimes it can take up to 48 hours. During this time, your domain might not be immediately accessible.

Until next time, keep building!
