To get everything up and running with your custom domain on Namecheap, follow the step-by-step guide below. If your DNS provider is not Namecheap, the steps will be similar, but please refer to the specific guide for your DNS provider here.

Step-by-Step Guide

Log into Namecheap

Access your Namecheap account and go to the Domain List from the left sidebar. Then click Manage next to the domain you wish to configure.

Access the Advanced DNS Settings

Navigate to the Advanced DNS tab at the top of the page.

Add New DNS Records

In the Host Records section, click on the Add New Record button.

💡 Important to know!

For a record that points to your root domain (e.g., domain.com), use "@" in the Host field.

If you are setting up a record for a subdomain, such as www.domain.com or blog.domain.com, enter only the subdomain part (e.g., "www" or "blog") into the Host field, omitting the main part of your domain.

Save DNS Records

Ensure the values you filled are correct and then click Save.

Finalizing Setup

Namecheap’s DNS settings might take a few minutes to propagate but can sometimes take longer, up to 48 hours on rare occasions. Your domain may not be accessible immediately.

Until next time, keep building!
